New Logo!
New logo design, a little on our story and a fantastic interview with our logo designer, Ash.
Welcome to our website news section and today we are proud to announce our new Outdoor BBQ reviews logo. We will be joined by Ash of Archer Web Design who designed our new logo.
Out with the old and in with the new
I am MK, and I started this website as a simple side project back in 2016. I had no real idea what to expect or what I really wanted to achieve other than simply to have a crack at reviewing a product and posting a video on YouTube, which I really enjoyed. I also had some limited coding skills and so I put together a website from the ground up, using a dated version of Dreamweaver; it did the job at the time.
I also wiped together a quick logo for my videos, which at the time seemed good enough however, looking back and looking at my new logo, I must admit I must have been extremely drunk or high to have thought that was an acceptable logo! My old logo is certainly unique and not in a good way! It was designed very quickly by me and as you can tell I had little to no artistic talent, but again it did the job at the time.
As this was a side project, it quickly fell into disarray due to life commitments and then the pandemic hit. It was during the pandemic that I came back to the side business and thought that I really wanted to develop it. We didn’t really want to change the business name, but we did want to improve the logo and brand image.
I am truly thrilled with my new logo, it is better than I could have imagined and the new logo has energised us to continue to develop outdoor BBQ reviews.
I am now going to hand off to Ash of Archer Web Design who will tell you more about how he crafted our amazing new logo design.
Hello, I am Ash, business owner of Archer Web Design, which is a company that focuses on a range of design services from bespoke web design, ecommerce solutions, SEO marketing, hosting solutions, and of course graphic design services such as logo design and brand development. My business was established back in the spring of 2018 and I have many years prior to 2018 in the design industry, so I am well qualified to take on a new logo design for MK of Outdoor BBQ Reviews.
Mk approached us and asked if we could do something with their logo, be it re-designing it, improving it, or simply coming up with a whole new logo all together, which MK wasn’t massively keen on. Firstly, it is actually very common for me to see cheap or basic logo designs that have either been created by business owners with no design skills or logos that have been cheaply made by online logo builders.
As you can see from the final result, there is a stark contrast between a DIY logo design and logo designed by a professional!
I reviewed the original logo and set about researching logos in our clients niche to get a general idea of what type of logo would best fit our clients market. As a general example, if we were to create a logo, say that was red in a market that generally had yellow logos well, the logo would not only not fit into the market, but could even mislead the public into thinking the business belongs to a completely different market genre! Of course, there are exceptions to this rule.
I wanted the new logo to reflect the outdoor niche and so I developed the concept of the mountain, trees and wilderness theme using saturated earthier colours to give the logo a soft, warm feel, which makes the brand more inviting to the consumer.
Now we debated about the BBQ, MK of Outdoor BBQ reviews stated they were a review website, however I had to point out that the Safari chef 2 was really their only review, a good review at that. So I suggested we capitalize on this and use their flagship review as part of the new logo, therefore, I designed the new logo with a BBQ resembling the Safari chef 2 BBQ with a large flame, which is often featured in many logo designs in the outdoor niche.
It is fair to say that MK came round quite quickly after seeing the logo design and praised me many times for how good the new logo looked. The new logo clearly says through visual communication that it is a BBQ in an outdoor world and combined with the stars both in the text and sky, that this is an authority brand specializing in reviewing products.
As you can see a lot of thought goes into designing a logo and developing a brand and today I only talked briefly on the subject as there is just so much involved in logo design.
Ultimately, I am pleased with how the logo came out and I believe we have succeeded in creating a modern, clean and professional brand image for Outdoor BBQ Reviews.
Simply amazing insights from Ash of Archer Web Design and I would like to say a big thank you to Ash for taking the time out of his busy scheduled to join me today and I again, I totally agree, the new logo really does portray a professional brand image, which is exactly what we wanted.
So what is next for Outdoor BBQ reviews? Well, we now have our new logo; we are updating our website step by step as well as creating brand new content in an attempt to make our Safari chef 2 review the very best it can be in terms of adding valuable information to you, the reader.
We of course plan to create some new videos to go along with the Safari chef 2 review; we have the content ready, and it just needs editing and scripting, which does take time but new content is coming.
So please do subscribe to our YouTube channel and join our Facebook group to stay up to date with our latest works.
We do, of course, plan to expand our website, reviewing more BBQ’s, not just Cadac range but a whole range of different products and we have some products short-listed to review next, so again please consider subscribing to our newsletter, and join are various social networks to stay in the know.
Thank you to everyone who supports our work and thank you again to Ash of Archer Web Design for their ongoing support and our new logo design. I really do recommend Ash and his work, so please do check out his business.
